Design and comfort

Xiaomi Airdots in ear

The Xiaomi Redmi AirDots are shaped like a pill with a 45º angled nozzle protruding from them. This design is effective as it makes the earphones small and attractive, with the plastic housing and the front plate that also acts as the only button. Near the mouthpiece there are two metal pins that serve to charge the headphones.

The build quality is pretty good, as is tradition with Xiaomi, although the materials seem a bit cheap. It's certainly not one of those over-hyped premium looking products. The Redmi AirDots are pretty basic, but that's to be expected at this price point. What's not basic at all is the IPX4 certification, which allows you to use the headphones while exercising or in the shower.

Unfortunately, There is no way to know how much charge is left unless you check it on the phone. That is quite limiting as there is no indicator on the case and one cannot see how much charge is left. There is a Status LED on each earbud tells you when the earbuds are charging in the case, but that's the only information it gives (and it's only useful for knowing if the case has charge left or not).

Wireless headphones are really invented for the ultimate comfort experience. Therefore, they need to be comfortable. In terms of comfort, the Xiaomi AirDots are pretty good. I can wear it for 3-4 hours straight without any discomfort. The earbuds are soft and don't put pressure on the walls of my ear. And the best thing is that sometimes it feels like I'm wearing one of those invisible headphones, due to their very small size.

He insulation is decent, but not much more than that. The headphones offer some noise reduction, but you have to turn up the volume a bit to be able to listen to music without too much interference.

He Charging case is very good as it is small and lightThe materials are nothing special (it's plastic with a cheap finish and an unattractive appearance), but the overall result is very good as the construction seems solid and the small size allows the case to fit into a pants pocket without any problems.

Sound and microphone

Thanks to its in-ear design, we were satisfied with the bass response and wide frequency range they offer. However, you need to make sure that the earbuds are properly seated in your ear, as they sometimes become slightly loose, causing a significant drop in bass tones. The headphones come with three sizes of earplugs and changing to a larger one seems to solve this minor complaint.

It's the price that makes these wireless headphones pass with flying colors, because there are very few that can achieve such a "good" sound in such an affordable packageEven some headphones that cost four or five times as much don't sound as good.

The highs are crisp and clear, while the mids are well preserved even at maximum volume. These headphones are very, very loud., to the point where I haven't even turned the volume up above the 70%'s mark.

The headset's microphones allow you to make and receive calls while wearing them. In our tests, the person on the other end of the line reported that The audio was a bit like we were in a big room, but otherwise it was clear and easy to understand.

Autonomy and battery life

Battery life is very good for its size, hitting the 4-hour mark on average. The case has a 300mAh battery that should provide two additional charges to the earbuds, for a total of 12 hours of battery life. The real-life result is very close to what Xiaomi announced, which is good news.

Bluetooth and controls

Pairing was easy, thanks to the earbuds' Bluetooth 5.0 technology, and all of our devices recognized the AirDots without issue and connected within a few seconds. The AirDots were Automatically reconnect when removed from the charging case. In case you need help we made a small guide for you pair the xiaomi airdots.

While your smartphone is likely close to you most of the time, we tested it by leaving ours on a table and moving away while listening to audio on the AirDots. With a clear line of sight, We had no falls at about 25-30 feet (10 meters approximately), but when changing rooms the signal disappeared almost immediately.

The control buttons They serve different purposes, with a single click answering an incoming call or hanging up at the end, while a longer press will reject the call. A single press at any other time will play or pause the audio and a double press will launch the preferred voice assistant on the device.
