When we enter the territory of unknown brands of Asian origin, at first we get the impression that all the headphones are white labels of one that they are copying. Far from reality and depending on the country, certain Brands like Haylou have become especially famous since their products are offering certain features outside the conventional market.
More specifically, Haylou, and its GT1 PRO (along with the Plus version that came out at the same time), has specialized in the field of True Wireless Stereo (TWS) to bring us a very polished product and a price that is very difficult to beat. Whether we have the opportunity to acquire the PRO or Plus version, the features are the same, and the only thing that will change is the autonomy of the dock and some improvements in the sound chipset of the Plus version.
In addition, we found a Feature-laden headset that hasn't skimped on any aspect, something that we can see from the moment we open the box and begin to observe the amount of details that it has prepared for us.
Design and comfort
Although we are going to focus on the GT1 Pro, we can see in general terms that the GT1 range is designed on the same structure. It is a simple headset, comfortable to put on and adaptable to most ear anatomies, which follows a very common line in many headphones on the Asian market, as we have already seen in other models such as Xiaomi AirDots.
In addition to the comfort section, we must add the fact that in the box we find three interchangeable silicone pads.
It does not offer a range of colors or different sizes, and we will always find this black version extremely compact and imperceptible in terms of weight (barely 4 grams), making them extremely comfortable and easy to carry with us anywhere.
As for the charging station, we have to say that the GT1 Pro version is a little bigger than expected, and It might be a little uncomfortable in your pocket, something that does not happen in other versions of GT1 such as the Plus, as it is so thin that it would hardly take up any space. But we have to justify that the size of the station is justifiable: the difference in the load capacity is overwhelming as we will see later.
Can they be wet or submerged?
Finally, these are headphones with IPX5 certification, which will allow us to wet them but not submerge them. This is welcome, especially for those rainy days when we will lose that fear of them breaking if they get wet.
Sound and frequencies
As is often the case with this type of low-budget headphones, we cannot expect great results in this section. Although it has not ceased to surprise us how well balanced the responses are to all types of frequency, we observe that it does not stand out in any particular.
We cannot ignore that we have detected that the Low frequency of bass is quite weak Compared to other similarly priced headphones, we tested them with different bass-heavy pieces of funk and jazz music and noticed the lack of clarity almost immediately.
Instead, in the range of mids, highs and voices, the thing is much more stable, and this allows, in general terms, to enjoy more commercial music, since it sounds quite acceptable. As for the soundstage, we are able to detect that sound envelope, but it is not anything exceptional either.
If you need to prioritize sound, the Plus version promises higher quality by incorporating an improved chipset compared to the Haylou GT1 PRO, but we have serious doubts that it is significantly superior.
Microphone and isolation
Despite not offering an active noise cancellation system for obvious reasons, we have detected that the level of insulation is quite good, and it is possible that this is due to their design in combination with the built-in digital-analog converter module, minimizing the impact on the environment.
The call quality is surprisingly good, and the microphone performs its function satisfactorily. To this we must add a large amount of touch controls which incorporates, something that, despite being quite common nowadays, is especially appreciated when checking that they work quite accurately and with a variety of functions: including the initialization of the voice assistant. In addition, the touch controls apply separately to the two earphones executing different functions.
Autonomy and battery life
To conclude the list of features, we come to the pinnacle of the Haylou GT1 PRO by far: the incredible autonomy that these headphones offer us, with around 4 hours of use and 25 hours if stored in the charging station. We are talking about a 800 mAh battery in the charging station and 43 mAh in each earphone.
Although the battery of the headphones is not too surprising, we can see that we have at our disposal with the charging station about 18 full recharges, compared to the three recharges offered by the Plus version. We are talking about six times more autonomy than this version and several times the autonomy of most products of this type on the market.
Connections
In this section there is little to mention, since we are going to find the typical things that we see today in a True Wireless Stereo. Starting with the Bluetooth 5.0 and the Support for most common Android codecs, such as AAC and aptX on most smartphone versions.
We cannot help but notice that the power connection is micro USB, therefore We will not have fast charging. Although with the enormous loading capacity it offers us, it is unlikely that we would need this functionality.
Who do we recommend these headphones for?
Considering that these are headphones whose predominant feature is the charging capacity, we could say that this is a clearly Designed for people who do not have the possibility of charging them regularly or they just don't want to worry about it.
If we are concerned about sound quality, as we have already mentioned, perhaps the Plus version or other alternatives such as the Jabra Elite 65T are a better option to consider.
